I don’t know about you, but I grew up eating pizza almost every Saturday night—ranging from cheese or pepperoni as a kid to more refined toppings like arugula and prosciutto when I got older. To this day, I still find having a pizza night out or at home to be relaxing (after all it is one of the top comfort foods), but it can become unhealthy when you do it regularly, which is where vegetarian pizza recipes come in. Although we aim to as eat many servings of veggies as possible, that often falls to the wayside when we opt for pizza. But what if we said you could eat the Italian dish more often and it could be healthy(ish)?

Thankfully, a new crop of recipes are so tasty, you won’t ever miss the meat lovers’ special. Plus, they’re loaded with toppings so you won’t need that many slices to fill yourself up (think: spinach, artichoke, and pine nuts, and broccolini, chickpeas, and butternut squash.) Below find all our favorite vegetarian pizza recipes that you’ll want to make on repeat this fall (and forever).

Balsamic Mushroom and Goat Cheese Pizza

Although it’s not in the recipe title, we’re loving that this white pizza has ultra-thin slices of delicata squash as a base. And on top? Balsamic-glazed mushrooms, tangy goat cheese, and just a drizzle of truffle oil to finish.

Kale and Whipped ricotta pizza

Marinated kale and a whipped ricotta spread are a match made in heaven when baked into a tasty pizza. A dash of honey adds sweetness, while two types of cheese give it a gooey consistency (how divine).

If you’re going to go healthy, why not try a vegan pizza? This recipe from Minimalist Baker calls for a garlic-herb crust, tomato sauce, and tons of bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. (And don’t forget to shake on some vegan parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes).


Does anything scream fall more than a pizza with broccolini and chickpeas and topped with a butternut squash sauce? The orange veggie spread adds just the right amount of creaminess—try it when you want something more than a plain tomato sauce base.

If you want to get protein on pizza the meat-free way, why not add a runny egg on top at the very last minute? No dry crust here (phew).


Pressed for time? Toasted ciabatta bread doubles as a pizza pie crust when you throw on fennel, cherry tomatoes, and black olives. Incorporate some fresh parmesan shavings, and bake until the edges are brown.


We love sweet potato on almost everything, but we’d never had it on pizza before (talk about an inspiring recipe). Thin ribbons top this delectable pie, along with caramelized onions, feta, and ricotta.


As we’re sure you probably know, vegetarian doesn’t have to mean just veggies. In this case, it’s all about ripe peaches and arugula on a super-thin crust. (We know the recipe suggests adding bacon, but you won’t lose any flavor by omitting it.)

This sheet pan pizza was inspired by a Gilmore Girls episode, which makes us love it even more (if possible). An array of interesting toppings like green peppers, zucchini, and sweet corn blend together effortlessly. Plus, you can cut as big of a square slice as you’d like, so just go for it.


Lovers of spinach and artichoke dip are going to go crazy for this version, in pizza form. A dash of citrus comes from lemon slices, while pine nuts add a hint of crunch when baked in the oven. Go for it, take another slice.
